Gastrointestinal Side Effects of Zoloft
According to Drugs.com, Zoloft has also some gastrointestinal side effects. This includes nausea. About 30% of patients treated with Zoloft or sertraline experienced nausea. In addition, other side effects are dry mouth of about 14-20 percent, diarrhea 17 percent, constipation, upper GI bleeding as well as dyspepsia.
Lactobacillus acidophilus capsules were also reported to be very helpful in treating zoloft-induced bacteria.
A total number of 26,005 antidepressant users were studied and it has been shown that the risk of upper gastrointestinal tract bleeding is up to 3.6 times higher as compared to those who did not take antidepressant medications. On the other hand, sertraline may cause up to 4.1 times more upper gastrointestinal tract bleeding frequency.
